ABOUT THE BRUCE LEFROY CENTRE
Based at the Royal Children's Hospital, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) is one of the world's pre-eminent health research facilities.
Within the MCRI is a dedicated genetic research centre, the Bruce Lefroy Centre, which is proudly sponsored by The Swann Group. The Bruce Lefroy Centre aims to strengthen our understanding and knowledge of the causes of genetic health problems, and give people new hope for a better quality of life through the development of screening tests and therapies.
The Vision of the Bruce Lefroy Centre for Genetic Health Research is to undertake research that has a direct positive impact on the health of individuals and the community.
Current areas of research include genetic diseases affecting the nervous system (Friedreich Ataxia, autism, Parkinson Disease and Huntington disease) and community genetic screening for haemachromatosis and cystic fibrosis.
