Companies Invited to Join Swann’s Annual Salary Survey in China

The annual survey of salaries paid to people in the international mining community in China is well underway. But it is not too late for companies who wish to participate. Speaking in Shanghai, Head of Research at Swann Global in China, Ms Zhang Jing, said “this is the sixth year that we have done this study and the results over the years have told a story about the operation of international mining companies and mining industry associated firms in the China market. This is the only such snapshot of the labour market in China’s mining industry”. There is a report published each year that summarizes the key findings and this is made available to the broad mining community in China. In fact it is one of the features of the China Mining conference each year.

But this data is very general and does not include the actual salary breakdowns. This information comes out in a very detailed report that is only made available to those companies who participate in the study. Ms Zhang remarked that “the only cost involved for participating companies is their time. And we try to help them and to make it as simple as possible.” The participating companies not only get this report, but also access to the total data pool, and can request further specific analysis that might assist in their workforce planning.

Companies wishing to participate should contact Ms Zhang at jing.zhang@swannglobal.com . The range of participants goes beyond miners, to include engineering and consulting companies that are serving the international mining community in China. It also breaks the data into expat, local and returnees while looking at executive, management, professional and service roles.
