Advance Asia 50 Summit
Shanghai, March 30-31, 2009
The Advance Asia 50 Summit will be an historic event in Australian public diplomacy. It will bring together fifty leaders and emerging leaders living in Asia and making a contribution to Australia. Delegates will be influential thinkers and leaders across a number of fields including education, environmental industries, business and finance, tourism and hospitality, mining and natural resources, science and research, community development, and the arts. The event aims to recognise the important role Australians in Asia play as ambassadors-at-large aiding diplomatic, cultural and trade objectives to the benefit of Australia and Australians generally.
The theme for the Summit will be "Partnerships for the Asian Century", highlighting Australia's engagement with the Asian region. The aim will be to determine how the Australian diaspora can make a considerable contribution to the exchange of ideas and the search for practical solutions in navigating the global challenges and opportunities affecting our region at this time.
Among the participants at this cross-disciplinary event will be a select group of 50 established and emerging Australian leaders from across Asia, distinguished alumni from Australian universities and respected Asian counterparts. The event will include keynote addresses, presentations and workshops, and the unique opportunity to network with leaders and peers. The outcome will be a presentation to the Australian government to drive the agenda forward.
Peter Arkell Swann Global’s Managing Director, China is delighted to be invited to join this event. An active member of the Australian community in China, Peter is on the Board of Directors of the Shanghai Australian Chamber of Commerce. “It is a privilege to be invited to this historic gathering of talented Australians whose interests are centered in Asia, the world’s most exciting region”.
